One of the industries along the line dealt with Limestone. Increased demand from industry in the 19th centuary led to limestone quarries opening next to the railways. The Millers Dale Limeworks opened in 1878. Limekilns produced quicklime for the chemical and steel industries and for agriculture. One of the industries along the line dealt with Limestone.
